Biennial. 4-6 ft. Sun.
Medicinal Mullein has large rosettes of fuzzy soft leaves which can grow over a foot long. As a biennial, it grows the first year and has tall spikes of yellow flowers the second. Mullein has a variety of uses, the soft leaves can even be used as toilet paper! Leaves are great to add to compost piles and the plants help fix nitrogen in the soil. As a medicinal plant all parts can be used in teas, tinctures, poultices and more. Self sows easily, to reduce spreading, cut flower stalks before seeds have a chance to mature. Birds like the seeds so you could also harvest the stalks and set out for the birds.
