Vigorous, easy to grow medicinal and ornamental herb. Fragrant honey scented white flowers throughout spring, it will easily self sow. The root is used medicinally, has an interesting 'dirty socks' musky fragrance. Leaves are long and spiky, very striking. Plant in afternoon shade in hottest areas.
Leaves grow to 2 feet tall, flowers to 4 feet. Adapts to very moist soil, but plant in well drained soil, especially if you plan to harvest the roots.
