Plant can grow up to 6 feet tall with good drainage, rich soil and full sun, but typically will grow half that size. Leaves are small and rugose. Flowers are small but very showy, light lavender on the top lip and dark violet blue on the lower lip.
Fast drainage, good loamy garden soil, and good air circulation are needed for Salvia semiatrata to perform well. It is hardy to 25 degrees F, but will survive short periods of temperatures down to 15 degrees F. Plant in full sun. This is an excellent plant for large containers.
