At first, 'Dutch' may look somewhat similar to many other lavandins, however once in bloom this cultivar takes on a different look. The plant has a very dense, compact habit, but when it blooms it can extend to more than 4 feet tall. Flower stems can be as long as 18 inches, and flower spikes 4 inches, so the flowers stand far above the silvery gray foliage. Flower color is blue/violet, with green calyces. 'Dutch' flowers later in the summer, often not beginning until July, then will bloom into the fall. In the winter, the broad silver foliage is striking.
