E. paradox is a rare species, with buttery yellow blooms. The paradox of course, is that it is a yellow flowering purple coneflower (of course now there are many selection...) It is an excellent cut flower, attracts butterflies, and is a must have for the plant collector. The flowers have a warm vanilla/honey fragrance. It is easy to grow. It's native to the prairie areas of Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas. It prefers fairly dry well drained soils. Beware of snails and slugs in the spring. This is a fun addition to a perennial border or a butterfly habitat area.
