Fragrant lavender or pink flowers on aromatic small tree or large shrub. Leaves, flowers, seeds, stems and branches all have a musky woody scent. Fast growing to 15 feet. Important medicinal plant for women. Seeds are used for medicinal tea and tinctures. Flowers attract honeybees, butterflies and beneficial insects.
Grows well in full hot sun with little water, giving the best colored blooms in heat. In dry areas there is less tendency to self sow.
