Perennial. 1 ft. Sun.

Winter savory is easily one of my favorite plants to grow, even if I don't cook with it! It forms a neat subshrub to 1 foot tall, with shiny thick deep green leaves. It will form a thick tall groundcover in full sun, or you can clip it into a short hedge or use in knot gardens. The leaves (and flowers) have a strong flavor of pepper, much stronger than summer savory (Satureja hortensis). It is an excellent culinary, used with soups and stews, meat casseroles, and steamed with vegetables. Because it is a hardy evergreen it can be used fresh year round. Delicious in corn bread and biscuits. White flowers in summer attract honeybees.

Grow in full sun with good drainage and average garden water.
