This is a penstemon that is so sturdy, you can almost plant it anywhere successfully! The plant is low growing normally, very ground cover like, and the blooms really stand out. Depending on whether it is in full or part sun, very dry or average watering and even the soil type, the blooms can be sky blue to reddish purple. Flowers will even change color from year to year. The name BOP means 'bottom of the porch', because where the chance seedling first grew at Las Pilitas nursery it grew successfully for many years at the bottom of the porch.
