A lovely ornamental oregano, with big green leaves that are fragrant and could be used for fresh use in cooking. Spreading to 18 inches wide, it behaves as a fluffy groundcover, growing to 6 inches tall - sending up dark wiry stems with unusual purple hop type flowers. Actually, purple doesn't really describe the color, since the flower bracts are many shades of purple. Small purple flowers peak out of the bracts, making this a very showy little specimen. This is a great flower for drying, as the flowers maintain the deep hues. It is great for wreath making.
It prefers very dry conditions, so plant it in a very well drained location, or in hanging pots or rock gardens.
