This is a newer selection to the 'Ruffles' series, which is popular for its compact growing Spanish lavenders, larger flowers and heavy bloom.
'Blueberry Ruffles' is very compact, growing only to 2 feet, and will bloom about 2 weeks earlier than the species - early February at our nursery. Blooms are violet with deeper purple centers, and the characteristic 4 petals are larger and distinctly wavy. When in full bloom, the plant may appear to be more flowers than foliage!
This is an excellent selection for containers, particularly in hot sunny locations. It has a light slightly sweet fragrance, but is not suitable for culinary or medicinal uses.
