HERBAL DISTILLING

A WORKSHOP ON HOW TO MAKE YOUR OWN ESSENTIAL OILS AND FLOWER WATERS (hydrosols) from plants.

Have you ever wanted to capture the scent of a plant, a tree, your garden. Distilling plants is an ancient honored way of saving scents as well as preserving the essential oils and essence of plants for medicinal and cosmetic use.  This class will be a good primer on how you can do this yourself and how to get started distilling plants from nature and your garden.

We will cover some easier plants you may want to start your distillation journey with, how much material will be needed, what plants produce a lot of oil and what plants don’t, parts of the plants used why use fresh plants and dry plants and the differences, We will also talk about how to make a hydrosol, and how to use them.

We will also cover what kinds of stills are available and what the difference is between them in terms of use and production.  How to initialize and prepare your still, set it up, monitor it, keep it managed through a 'run', and walk you through the entire process from start to finished product.

Lastly, we will cover bottling and preservation information, shelf life, joys of distilling in your garden and in nature, and so much more!

This is an all day class so please pack a lunch and plan accordingly.  A garden walk will be included so wear comfortable shoes.

The course hours are 10 am until noon and 12:30 to 3pm so you will have a half hour for lunch in the garden. There will be time for questions through out and at the end of the course day.
