This is one of the showiest of the perennial buckwheats! The Red Buckwheat has pink flowers that  bloom from June to October.
Eriogonum grande var. rubescens originates from the Channel Islands off the coast of California.
Needs full sun near coast, and part shade inland. One of the few plants that actually prefers clay soil!  The flowers, leaves and seeds are all used by many of the smaller mammals, and several species of birds. Loved by butterflies.
