Evergreen Shrub. 10 ft+. Sun.
Native to the mountains of Peru and Bolivia, this unusual butterfly bush has fissured bark, leathery leaves, and blooms December to June. Evergreen and growing to over ten feet tall, it works well as a wind break or privacy screen, branching almost at ground level. Blooms are clusters of fragrant yellow orange flowers aging to red orange at the tips of the branches, attractive to butterflies and hummingbirds. Prefers full sun and well drained soil. Shrub does not like water logged soil, mulch to protect from freeze. USDA Zone 9
