BASIC HERBAL EXTRACTION TECHNIQUES: HOW TO MAKE HERBAL EXTRACTS, TINCTURES, LINIMENTS, AND ELIXERS. 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

This class will focus on basic herbal extraction methods, materials used for extractions using alcohol, vegetable glycerin, and vinegar. We will discuss double and triple tincturing, fresh herbs vs dried, preparing herbs for extraction, Alcohol vs glycerin and vinegar. We will cover ratios used in alcohol extraction for various herbs, proper storage of various types of extractions and expirations, and more.This class is hands on and provides extensive written instructions.Students will go home with various extracts.

Come learn the basics of herbal formulation, herbal extraction, and herbal salve and cream making with experienced herbalist Brita Wynn Dinsmore! This is the second course in a series of four. Take one or more to gain herbal knowledge over the weekend. The focus for this series will be the adaptogenic herbs (stress relieving herbs) and fall and winter preparation.

Brita Wynn Dinsmore M.A. is an experienced herbalist, anthropologist, ethnobotanist, healer and hedgewitch. She has studied with many well known herbalists in face to face courses and has taught and co taught 25 Gaia Conscious 9 month apprenticeships over the course of the last 30 years. She currently teaches herbal crafting and other classes in Tacoma, WA and has taught herbal intensive and apprenticeships on her own small farm in Shelton, WA.  She currently teaches intensive herbal healing series in Olympia, WA and teaches herbal craft and medicinal courses at Morningsun Herb Farm. She grows most of the herbs she uses and has decades of experience in formulation technologies.
