Large heart shaped anise scented leaves with tall spikes of fuzzy purple flowers. This is a very popular honeybee plant. Try adding some of the purple flowers to your fruit salad and you will see why they are so excited! This is an old medicinal plant, used in teas. It is native to north central US. This species is much more tolerant to wet soil conditions, and is very cold hardy.
