This is one of our favorite accent plants at the nursery, because it is tough, tough, tough. Thick gray fernlike leaves on a spreading semi-evergreen plant, topped with large umbels of dark yellow blooms. Plant it with 'Grosso' lavender, 'Twilight' Echinacea or Salvia darcyii and when they bloom together you will be gleefully happy. Even under very dry conditions this yarrow puts on quite a show. Unlike many of the A. millifolium, it doesn't appear to self sow, so will stay where you plant it. Add it to containers for its long bloom. Attracts butterflies. This plant received the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Merit in 1993.
