The Great Pleasants Valley Pumpkin Patch 2026

Welcome to Fall at The Great Pleasants Valley Pumpkin Patch! 🎃

Hey neighbors! October is coming, and that means it's time to bundle up, grab a pumpkin spice something, and head on over to our first ever ‘Great Pleasants Valley Pumpkin Patch’ for a whole month of relaxing, country style, community-filled fun!  We leased the field next to the nursery and have been busy growing a field of pumpkins and fall flowers.  It has been a learning experience, and we have been having so much fun getting the kid zone ready.  It is the first time our employees explored their creative painting and building skills, and we think you are going to love the results.

We have got a full lineup of events to keep you and your family and friends busy all season long — think friendly competitions, creative workshops, and plenty of excuses to gather with the people you love, take photos, relax and enjoy spending time in the country. Let's get into it!

Kicking It Off: Opening Weekend, Oct 3rd-4th

Mark your calendars because the fun starts right away! Our opening weekend is all about the kiddos with the Great Pumpkin Play Patch — a weekend packed with playful, creative activities designed just for our littlest pumpkin fans.  They may be little, but the kids are the biggest lovers of pumpkins, so many of our events will revolve around the fall vegetable.  Come let the kids run wild with imagination while the grown-ups soak in that first taste of fall. It's the perfect way to kick off a whole month of autumn fun.  The Great Pumpkin Play Patch will be happening every weekend, but we will have some extra events for the kids the first weekend!

Star of the Season: The Scarecrow Showdown – Oct 10th

Okay, this is the one you don't want to miss, whether you are competing, cheering on the scarecrow builders, or just taking selfies with all of the scarecrow creations.

Grab your family, round up your friends, or rally your coworkers — because it's time to build the most epic scarecrow in Vacaville.  There will be an adults section and a youth section, and each build can include up to six people.  Sign up early to reserve your space!

  •  Get creative: Go silly, spooky, or downright artistic — there's no wrong way to scarecrow!
  • Team up: This is such a fun way to bond with your crew, whether that's your family, your best friends, or your work squad.
  • Bragging rights: Because nothing says "we're the best team" like a killer scarecrow standing tall in the patch wearing a ‘1st Place’ ribbon.  The scarecrows will be in the main pumpkin patch walkway, so for the month everyone will walk by your creation to admire it.  Win a little money and participate in Morningsun Herb Farm’s first scarecrow contest!

Seriously, this contest brings out everyone's inner artist (and a little friendly competitive spirit), and it will be a highlight of the season to see all the creations pop up around the patch.

Don't Forget: The Great Pie-Off on Oct 17th.

Calling all bakers (and pie enthusiasts)! Whip up your best fall pie and bring it on down for our community pie contest. Whether you've got a secret family recipe or you're experimenting with something new, this is your moment to shine — and maybe snag a slice of glory (and pie) along the way.  And did you know that October 17th is called Sweetest Day?  It’s a day to share romantic deeds and acts of charity and kindness.  So…once we have passed out the ribbons we will offer slices of all the pies for a $2 donation, and all the proceeds will all be donated to the Vaca FISH.  So a great opportunity to taste all kinds of pie and give to a good cause.  Sign up here to reserve your space!

Workshops: Succulent & Dried Flower Pumpkin Workshop Oct 24th-25th

One of the easiest ways to extend the life of a pumpkin is to turn it into a living centerpiece for the season.  The Succulent and Dried Flower Pumpkin Workshop is perfect for beginners, families, and groups, you'll create a living fall centerpiece using pumpkins, succulents, dried flowers, and moss — one that you can plant right in your garden once the season winds down. Kids 12 and under can join in and help an adult for free!  Classes all weekend at the Pumpkin Patch, sign up here to reserve your space!

Halloween!  Oct 31st

Well, it’s not too late for one last day at the Great Pleasants Valley Pumpkin Patch, and kids love to dress up in their costumes as soon as they get up, so come out to the pumpkin patch for one last fun day of pumpkins and flowers.  All our volunteers and workers will have treats to hand out to trick or treaters, and the donkeys will be there dressed in some Halloween finery, and ready for photographs with the kids (and adults too!).

Trebuchet Contest Oct 31st.

We have been perfecting our Medieval Catapult building skills, so we think the final day of the pumpkin patch should include some pumpkin hurling.  We will be all set up for you to test your skills – pay a small fee for a pumpkin (all proceeds will go to the Solano/Contra Costa Food Bank), and see if you can catapult it into ‘Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater’s’ mouth.  Medieval costumes are optional for the event.

Why You Should Come (even if you don’t have kids…)

  • A whole month of cozy, creative, community-filled fun in the country.
  • So many ways to connect with neighbors, friends, and family in a relaxed atmosphere.
  • Friendly competition + fall crafts = the best kind of October.

So mark your calendars, get your scarecrow squad together, dust off your best pie recipe, and come make some memories with us this October. We can't wait to see you there — starting Opening Weekend, October 3-4!
