Vivid red, yellow and green foliage can grow 6 inches tall and sends up small inconspicuous white flowers in June-Aug. Fish mint prefers moisture and tolerates standing water. It grows very well as a marginal water plant. In rich well watered soil this plant can very quickly become invasive. It is a fast growing groundcover. Culinary, with a strange 'tinny tuna' flavor; it is used widely in Southeast Asian cuisine. Grow in containers or in areas with poor soil to keep contained. Grow in afternoon shade.
