Tender perennial. 2 ft. Sun to Part Shade.
Aloe is an ancient medicinal plant, used for many folk medicine remedies. It is currently used to treat burns, bites, inflammation, and even some internal ills. It has upright fleshy leaves that can grow to 2 feet tall. In much of the country it will not overwinter outside, but makes an excellent houseplant, and is commonly grown in kitchen windows. Since this is also where it is used most for burns, it makes it an instant medicine cabinet. Spikes of brilliant yellow blooms on 3 ft stalks attract hummingbirds. Grow in very loose garden soil. If growing in a container, additional perlite can be added to increase drainage. Easy to grow houseplant. USDA Zone 10
