Native to Peru, this sage is frost sensitive, but is an excellent specimen plant for containers. Unusual deep purple, nearly black flowers in light sage green calyces. Silvery white foliage, pungent scented. The flowering stems are strangely sticky - it's a great way to monitor what insects are flying through your garden!
In hot areas, afternoon shade is a must, but in cooler areas full sun will help keep the plant more compact. It is very long blooming, May through October, and is very dramatic paired with Salvia chiapensis or Silene 'Druetts'.
