Edelweiss lavender is a beautiful, well behaved lavender with a true white flower. When the flowers are closed there is a bit of a pink blush, but open to be a sparkling white in spring, and again in the fall if the plant is deadheaded after bloom.
Edelweiss is a very compact grower, with a deep green leaf. The fragrance of the flowers and foliage is very sweet, and is an excellent choice for cooking and for sachets. The flower dries to a grayish green, so is not as pretty as some of the violet varieties for wreath making and crafts.
As with all lavenders, plant Edelweiss in full sun, with good drainage and deep infrequent watering. Prune heaviest after bloom to promote a second bloom later in the summer or fall.
