Ballota is native to western Turkey and the Aegean Sea area, and with its fuzzy felt like gray leaves you can tell how drought tolerant this plant is! It grows to about 2 feet tall, with roundish leaves and whorls of grayish white blooms that when dry, are attractive in arrangements. This is a lovely plant in mixed perennial beds, and a nice change from using dusty miller or lamb's ears for a gray foliaged plant. It needs excellent drainage. Prune heavily in the spring to rejuvenate the growth.
