Origanum syriacum is one of the plants commonly called Za'atar, either by itself or its use as part of a mix of herbs and seeds. It is one of the lesser hardy Oregano family members, so if winter temperatures are less than 28 degrees you will want to grow this plant in a pot so you can bring it indoors during the winter. It has a very spicy scent and flavor, with green and white flowers that can also be used for cooking. Grow it in hot, dry conditions for best growth and flavor.
