A Biblical plant with many positive traits, White Leaved Savory is an evergreen shrub that can be pruned easily to keep it small, which makes it a great container plant and good for small gardens. The silver leaves work as an accent plant and it can have an extremely long bloom period-from late Spring to early Winter! The leaves, buds, and flowers are edible and used for teas, poultices, infusions, and gargles. This plant can handle any amount of sun or shade and is wonderful for the bees and butterflies. Outdoors, plant to attract pollinators to the vegetable garden or as a patio plant for the fragrance the leaves give off as you brush by. Indoors, keep as a low water use fragrant houseplant that can be harvested at any time for medicinal use or as a fresh leaf tea.
White Leaved Savory is a drought tolerant Mediterranean plant that can handle a variety of soil types. The silver leaves have a minty taste good for teas and flavoring food dishes. During the winter leaves tend to be bigger and thinner and during the winter they are smaller and thicker. Prune after blooming to control size and shape. Will re-bloom again and again.
