This is an old cottage garden plant, with big umbels of fluffy, fragrant deep pink flowers. Jupiter's Beard is fast growing to 2 feet, and will bloom from early sping through mid summer, longer if it is deadheaded. This is another one of those beautiful plants that under the right conditions can get out of hand, seeding everywhere and becoming a pest. We grow it in an area of the nursery where quite frankly, everyone forgets to water, so it stays very dry and we don't have much of a problem. For a dry area it is an ideal habitat plant, but I wouldn't grow it in really productive soil, next to a lawn. It attracts butterflies and is an acceptable butterfly plant. Jupiter's Beard is adaptable from full sun to almost full shade, which makes it very easy to plant whereever you need it (but also whereever it wants to be!).
