
Ayurvedic medicine plant, often called Indian ginseng. It is used medicinally to speed recovery after chronic illness and to improve vitality. Plants are grown as a tender perennial, hardy to 40 degrees. Usually grown as an annual in most of the U.S. and at the end of the season leaves, seeds and roots are harvested. Large 3 to 4 ft shrub with yellow blooms and small red berries.
Grow in full sun or afternoon shade, in well drained soil. Pinch back early in the season to maintain a bushy plant.
