Not a true oregano, but it is the commonly used oregano used in Mexico for cooking. Much stronger in flavor and hotter than Origanum. Generally it is dried for Mexican cooking.
Grow this in full sun or a bit of afternoon shade in hottest climates. If happy, the plant can grow up to 6 feet, with beautiful white flowers during the summer. It is a very attractive shrub, especially if pinched early in its life cycle to allow for thicker fuller growth. Deciduous. USDA Zone 9
