Fast growing red and yellow flowers on bright variegated foliage.

Skittles Lantana is an evergreen perennial groundcover that averages 12 to 18 inches in height with a spread of up to 3 to 4 feet. It has a semi-trailing form growing with a fast growth rate.

Leaves are evergreen, opposite in arrangement, simple with serrate margins, ovate, 1 1/2 to 2 inches long, and variegated white and gray/green in color. The leaves are aromatic when crushed.

The red, orange, and yellow flowers are borne in umbels 1 to 1 1/2 inches wide from the axils. It blooms throughout the year in warmer areas and from mid-summer to frost in colder areas.

Fruit are small purplish/black drupes.

Good Salt Spray Tolerance – it will grow near the shore but will benefit from a little protection such as behind the first row of plantings or behind the first dunes.

Poor Soil Salt Water Tolerance – it’s risky for this plant to be put in a site where any salt water flooding may be present and it will not tolerate irrigation with salt water.

It will grow on a wide variety of well-drained soils in the pH range of 6.0 to 7.8.

It has good drought tolerance once established, but it will perform better if irrigated in dry spells.

Pinch to encourage compactness and prune after first flowering to shape and encourage more flowers. Deadheading is usually not necessary, but hard cutbacks for refurbishing should be done in early spring.

It has no special fertilizer needs. Unless a soil test suggests otherwise, a slow-release balanced analysis fertilizer applied per the product label will work.
