Garden Cocktails From the Fragrant Garden - An After Hours Event at the Nursery
Fall cocktails invite us to be cozy and warm, either with a more aged spirit like bourbon or rum, by infusing spices and herbs into liquors that have that 'fall feeling' (like sage, cinnamon and cloves), or by adding fruits of the cooler season (like pomegranates, citrus and figs). And as a bonus, in the fall we can heat up our cocktails and enjoy them in a mug! It's interesting that the colors of fall - orange, red, golden yellow - are also the color of many of the spices and fruits of the fall season. The herbs, spices and fruits of fall can provide us with many delicious 'cozy cocktails'.
Morningsun Herb Farm owner Rose Loveall and Homestead Design Collective Owner and author Stefani Bittner will be teaching about homemade bitters, herbal cocktails and mocktails (for drivers and the thirsty!). We will sample four herbal cocktails, finishing with a warm libation. For the light or non drinkers, we will also serve two fall mocktails, one cold and one warm, and make our own bay leaf bitters, perfect for winter drinks and cooking. There will be time to walk with the instructors through the garden to look at plants that can be grown to enhance your fall drinks.
We will provide some light appetizers, your drinks and herbal water. For the full experience we encourage participants to bring supper so you can relax and enjoy the evening in the garden. Please bring a pair of clippers. We will ask you to sign a consent form and will ID check when you arrive. Stefani will also have copies of her newest book 'The Fragrant Flower Garden' available for purchase.
$70.00 - includes instructions and demonstration, and all materials.
Class date and time:
Saturday, October 26th, 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm
